BBR and RHT secure Natural Product Number (NPN), strengthening ILDONG’s North American expansion
ILDONG Bioscience, the health functional food subsidiary of the ILDONG Pharmaceutical Group, announced that two of its postbiotics ingredients have been registered as Natural Health Products (NHP) with Health Canada.
The NHP registration system administered by Health Canada strictly oversees the safety and quality of health-related products to ensure that consumers can use them with confidence. To distribute and sell health supplements in the Canadian market, companies are required to obtain a Natural Product Number (NPN) through the NHP registration process.
The newly registered ingredients include two postbiotics developed by ILDONG Bioscience: BBR (heat-treated and dried culture of Bifidobacterium breve IDCC 4401) and RHT (heat-treated and dried culture of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus IDCC 3201).
According to the company, both ingredients received recognition for specific health benefits during the NHP registration process. BBR was acknowledged as an ingredient that may help improve blood cholesterol levels and support cardiovascular health. RHT, meanwhile, was recognized as an adjunct ingredient that may help support skin health and alleviate symptoms in children with atopic dermatitis.
A representative from ILDONG Bioscience stated that, following the company’s previously obtained GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status in the United States, the additional NHP registration in Canada strengthens the company’s position for expanding into the North American market.
