ILDONG Bioscience Wins Best Poster Award at IPC 2026 for Sleep Probiotic Research
ILDONG Bioscience (CEO: Oh-Hyun Ban), the health functional ingredient and supplement subsidiary of the ILDONG Pharmaceutical Group, announced that it received the Best Poster Award at IPC 2026 (International Scientific Conference on Probiotics, Prebiotics, Gut Microbiota and Health) for its research on a probiotic that improves sleep quality.
IPC is a leading international scientific conference focused on the relationship between the microbiome and human health. The event brings together researchers and industry experts from around the world to share the latest scientific findings and industry developments in probiotics, prebiotics, gut microbiota, and related fields. This year's conference was held in Kraków, Poland, from June 22 to 24, 2026.
At the conference, ILDONG Bioscience presented a poster showcasing the results of a human clinical trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of its proprietary probiotic strain, Bacillus coagulans IDCC 1201, for improving sleep quality.
According to the study, physiological changes before and after supplementation with IDCC 1201 were assessed using polysomnography (PSG). The results demonstrated that participants receiving the probiotic experienced an improvement of more than 13% in sleep efficiency, along with an increase of approximately 50 minutes in total sleep time. In addition, both wake after sleep onset (WASO) and total wake time during sleep were significantly reduced in the IDCC 1201 group.
Subjective sleep quality was also evaluated using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), which measures factors including sleep duration, sleep latency, sleep quality, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbances, use of sleep medication, and daytime dysfunction. Participants who consumed IDCC 1201 showed statistically significant improvements across these sleep quality indicators compared with the placebo group.
The study was recognized by the IPC Scientific Committee with the Best Poster Award, highlighting the scientific excellence and innovation of ILDONG Bioscience's microbiome research.
