New corporate history hall embodies founding philosophy, core values, and innovation journey since 1941
ILDONG Group has officially opened its new corporate history exhibition space, “Dongnyeok Hall,” a commemorative venue that reflects the company’s 84 years of legacy and future aspirations.
According to the company, Dongnyeok Hall was established to bring together its extensive archival materials and corporate milestones into a comprehensive content-driven experience. The goal is to provide a space where both employees and external visitors can share, engage, and resonate with the company’s identity and vision.
The name Dongnyeok (동녘관) draws inspiration from the east, the direction of the rising sun, symbolizing hope. It also reflects the company’s name itself — ILDONG (日東), meaning “rising sun in the east.” This concept aligns with the founding philosophy of the late Chairman Yoon Yong-gu, who believed that “the essence of medicine lies in people.” Dongnyeok Hall embodies ILDONG’s commitment to quality pharmaceuticals and its vision for a brighter future.
Located on the first floor of the ILDONG Pharmaceutical Group headquarters in Seocho, Seoul, the 200 m² exhibition hall is organized into six zones:

The design reflects the flow of time from dawn to sunrise, symbolizing ILDONG’s journey through key historical milestones. Visitors follow a curved path inspired by the shape of the rising sun’s arc, allowing them to experience the company’s story through different eras and themes.
Within the History Arc, visitors can explore ILDONG’s growth and transformation alongside Korea’s modern history through immersive digital displays and historical documents. Words of the Leaders features messages from the company’s founder and successive leaders, highlighting their vision and philosophy.
The Dialogue of Light zone includes a media room and interactive kiosks showcasing promotional videos, advertising archives, information on ILDONG’s subsidiaries, R&D activities, and ESG initiatives. Visitors can also leave digital messages in the Silent Dialogue section, which are then displayed as media art. Additionally, the Artifact Archive presents historical pharmaceutical tools and materials, offering a tangible glimpse into the past.
Importantly, ILDONG Bioscience’s probiotic development journey traces back to 1941, when the company first began research and innovation in beneficial microbial strains. This long-standing expertise laid the foundation for ILDONG’s modern probiotic, prebiotic, and postbiotic technologies that continue to shape its leadership in the global microbiome industry.
