Obtains Indonesian MUI Halal Certification

Ildong Bioscience, a health functional food business affiliate of Ildong Pharmaceutical announced on the 30th that it has obtained Indonesian Halal certification for its probiotic raw materials.

Halal conforms to Islamic law, allowing Muslims to consume according to the ingredients used as well as the manufacturing the processing methods.

Ildong Bioscience has obtained Halal certification for a total of 22 probiotic strains, including those of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species from LPPOM MUI, an Indonesian food, drug and cosmetics evaluation agency. It was explained that it had undergone strict on-site evaluation, from inspection of each raw material to manufacturing facilities and processes.

A representative from Ildong Bioscience has stated, “Indonesia is the world’s 4th most populous country with approximately 276 million people. With 80% of people in Indonesia as Muslims, it is considered the world’s largest halal market, which we plan to pioneer and expand our business into with our certified raw materials.”

He added, “We have continued our efforts to improve the quality and marketability of our ingredients, by not only acquiring Halal certification but also Kosher certification according to Jewish law in 2020.”
